Aftercare
How to care for your newly tattooed BROWS/LIPS/LASH LINE/ SKIN
Successfully healed Cosmetic tattoo requires 25% Micropigmentation Procedure + 75% Aftercare. What does this mean? Achieving your enhancement goals comes from your technician's ability & skill, and a huge factor in ensuring a successful outcome is how well you care for the treated area during the healing period. You will increase your chances of a favourable outcome by following the post procedure care instructions as outlined below. Happy Healing!
DO's
DAY 1-- if the treatment area is producing lymph or blood (clear, yellowish fluid) take care to gently remove the lymph or blood using a clean cotton pad moistened with bottled water (tap water, especially softened water is a NO). It is important to remove the lymph throughout the first 24 hours in order to avoid a hard scab.
DAY 2 ONWARDS— Wash your brows/ treated area with bottled or sterile water at morning and before bed. Do not use harsh cleansers over the treated area. Start aftercare ointment (brows only) after all of the skin has sloughed off. Lip tattoo clients may start applying aftercare on day 2.
We recommend that the treated area stay clear of the pillow when you are sleeping— especially brows. Please change your pillowcase as soon as you get home after the procedure. Clients who sleep on their side may lose the tail of the brow on the side they prefer to sleep on.
As necessary, apply a cold compress (encased in a clean waterproof ziploc bag) over the treated area for maximum of 10 minutes and/or take Tylenol to alleviate swelling & discomfort. Arnica tablets will aid in reducing swelling and bruising. Please do not apply ice or frozen gel packs directly to the face as the extreme cold will disrupt the healing process
Protect your face against prolonged sun exposure (hat and/or sunblock works best, but please only apply sunblock after the pigmented skin has sloughed off)
Tap around the brows with clean fingers should your brows become itchy
Consult your physician if an infection occurs

DON'Ts
DO NOT submerge your face in water— avoid getting water on brows in the shower. Exposure to sea water will result in poor retention
DO NOT freak out if your brows/ lips/ lash line darken over the first 5 days-- this is expected & completely normal!
DO NOT sweat excessively (exercise) or sit in the sauna or steam room for first 5 days
DO NOT smoke following your lip procedure until all of your scabs have fallen off. It's not good for you, and your lungs will thank you!
DO NOT kiss or engage in any intimate activities following lip tattoo that will expose your treated area to foreign bodily fluids
DO NOT freak out or be upset when your scabs fall off and the colour appears dramatically lighter-- the pigment is deposited into the upper dermal layer and needs time to rise to the surface as your skin heals over the next couple of weeks. REMEMBER-- any 'permanent' makeup process is a minimum 2 step process. Feelings of 'disappointment' are completely normal after your first treatment because the job is only half done! Reserve judgement of your finished cosmetic makeup procedure until all of the necessary touch up work has been completed. Trust the process! Oilier skin types may require up to 2 touch ups following the original procedure.
DO NOT touch the treated area with dirty fingers
DO NOT apply makeup before your scabs have fallen off and the skin has 'surfaced healed.' The ONLY exception to this rule is 100% mineral makeup (Glo, Jane Iredale, SST, Bare Minerals) which can be applied before the scabs have fallen off, but please ensure that the applicator you are using (brush) has been properly disinfected, or use only disposable makeup applicators (i.e.- Q-tip) using dabbing motion, not rubbing!
DO NOT apply your regular lip balm following your lip procedure-- ONLY use the aftercare balm/ lotion for 2 weeks following your lip procedure. You may go back to your favourite lip moisturizer after 2 weeks.
DO NOT scratch or pick your scabs!. You will lift the pigment right off your skin along with the scabs. Try tapping around the area with clean fingertips.
