Frequently Asked Questions

HOW LONG ARE THE APPOINTMENTS?

Initial appointments last 1.5 hours on average. The needle to skin contact lasts only about 10-15 minutes. However, every face is unique, and everyone has different enhancement goals. Your micropigmentation professional will take care & time prior to the procedure to figure out a shape & colour that is most complimentary to your face shape and skin/ hair tone. Follow up appointments, on average, take one hour.

WILL IT HURT?

A topical anesthetic with 5% lidocaine (strongest over-the-counter) will be applied over the treatment area before we start the procedure for lip & brow procedure. During the procedure, your PMU pro will continue to check on your pain level and apply a secondary anesthetic when necessary to maximize your comfort. Everyone has a different pain threshold-- some clients experience no pain, while other clients (especially those with sensitive skin) have expressed mild discomfort. We encourage those clients that have low pain threshold to take a dose of tylenol 30 minutes preceding the appointment. Redness & inflammation immediately following the procedure is completely normal and the treated area may feel 'warm' like a sunburn. The redness & inflammation should subside within 24-48 hours.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT FOLLOWING MY INITIAL TREATMENT?

Immediately following the treatment-- redness, inflammation, minor swelling, are all completely normal. The treated area will feel like you have a sunburn. Within 3-5 days scabs will start to form over the incisions and 7 days following the procedure, the scabs will slough off. You may find that your brows will be mild to moderately itchy-- DO NOT SCRATCH & DO NOT PICK YOUR SCABS!!! Once your scabs have fallen off, you may be astonished (and most likely very disappointed) by how much your pigmentation has faded (60-80%). Also, you may leave with 'perfect' brows/ liner/ lips after your initial appointment, but as the swelling subsides and heals, the enhancement will 'shrink,' and the treated area may look a bit uneven (i.e.- one side of the face may have absorbed the pigment better). This is completely normal!! Your enhancement will be perfected during your follow up appointment(s). Think of the initial appointment as setting up a solid 'foundation' for the amazing result to follow after your touch up treatment!

WHY IS MICROPIGMENTATION SO EXPENSIVE?

Your face is an investment. Doesn't your face deserve the best? We provide the highest level of care, using the industry's best equipment & pigment. We provide our services in a licensed & inspected professional spa environment. There are costs associated with providing the highest quality of permanent makeup, and you really have to wonder what you are getting if the price seems below average. Incorrectly performed Micropigmentation mistakes are a sight for sore eyes and take a LOT of time & money to fix ($200 per procedure, with an average minimum of 3 procedures spaced 8 weeks apart to begin seeing results). Do you really want to take a chance on your face?

MY BROWS HAVE COMPLETELY FADED AFTER THE INITIAL TREATMENT. HOW QUICKLY CAN I COME BACK FOR MY TOUCH UP APPOINTMENT?

Follow up/ touch up appointments after the initial treatment are booked no sooner than 4 weeks (but no later than 8 weeks) following the initial treatment date. Remember-- think of the first appointment as laying the proper 'foundation' for the final result. Your skin needs time to heal properly on the surface as well as beneath the surface. Once you have reached your brow goals with your initial appointment and subsequent 4-8 week follow up appointments, you can keep your brows looking amazing with a maintenance appointment every 1-3 years.

DO I STILL HAVE TO WAX/ TWEEZE/ THREAD/ TINT MY EYEBROWS ONCE I HAVE MY BROWS MICROBLADED?

Yes! Absolutely! We recommend that you maintain the shape of your amazing new brows by removing excess hair that falls outside of the sculpted/ tattooed area. We recommend tweezing or threading over waxing & shaving because the latter procedures have a tendency to remove skin cells and your tattoo may fade faster especially if the tattooed areas are being waxed or shaved. If your natural brow hair is lighter than the implanted pigment, we recommend tinting your brow hair to compliment your enhanced brows. Please tint your brows only after a full month has passed after your procedure.

CAN I WEAR MAKEUP AFTER THE PROCEDURE?

We generally DO NOT recommend makeup (except mineral makeup, using a disposable makeup applicator) until the treated area is 'surface healed,' meaning, a couple of days after the scabs have fallen off-- generally between 8-10 days. Should you decide to wear makeup before your eyebrows have surface-healed, you are doing so at your own risk. Same rules apply to Sunblock-- please refrain from wearing sunblock until your skin is surface-healed.

CAN I HAVE THE PROCEDURE DONE IF I AM PREGNANT OR BREASTFEEDING?

NO!!! Fetuses cannot process the metal compounds used in the pigment. When you are breast feeding, your hormones are still adjusting and you are susceptible to excessive bleeding, meaning, your skin will resist pigmentation. We generally do not recommend this procedure for breastfeeding mamas.

CAN I HAVE MICROPIGMENTATION/ MICROBLADING IF I'VE HAD MY EYEBROWS TATTOOED IN THE PAST?

Depends-- we will definitely require that you e-mail us a photo of your brows BEFORE you book your appointment. Your previous tattoo must be faded before we can correct your brows with microblading. Depending on the intensity of the colour, we may recommend our tattoo fading treatments before any corrective brow enhancement can begin.

ARE RESULTS GUARANTEED WITH MICROBLADING?

NO! Results are never 100% guaranteed, as with any cosmetic procedure. Everyone's skin type is different. Most clients achieve a desired result after their initial 2-3 treatments, however, on the rare occasion, certain skin types may resist/ reject the pigment. If your brows have minimal pigment retention after the initial 2-3 treatments, this may be an indication that your skin is resistant to the pigment and we would recommend against further treatments.

CAN MEN GET MICROBLADING?

Absolutely!!! Guys deserve to have amazing eyebrows too! Your eyebrows frame your face, so why not put your best face forward? Manbrows have to look great too, but they don't have to be as 'pretty' or as meticulous(unless that's the look you're going for) as lady brows. End result? Au naturel, masculine looking eyebrows.
