What is Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP)?

While cosmetic tattooing has been around for decades, the method of implanting ink into the scalp to create the illusion of a denser, more youthful hairline has recently taken the world by storm.

Scalp micropigmentation mimics the look of a real hair follicle and each ‘impression’ (or follicle) is meticulously placed over the bald/ thinning areas of scalp and blended into the existing hairline. This is achieved using a tattoo machine and ink and a technique called pointillism.

Scalp micropigmentation can be used to create the illusion of denser/ thicker hair (only where there’s enough existing hair to provide a natural ‘cover’), cover up any scars on the scalp for previous surgery, cuts or alopecia, and can also create a more youthful hairline by restoring a full head of ‘shaved hair.’
